5 Honeymoon Ideas for Adventurous Couples

Weddings

30 Oct

Most people’s idea of a dream honeymoon is spending a couple of weeks on a quiet beach with their brand-new spouse and unwinding from all the wedding planning stress. However, not everyone is the beach vacation type, and for those who are easily bored, lazing around in the sun all day might not appeal. Since it’s your honeymoon, you should choose something that you can enjoy as a couple, so here are some ideas for those newlyweds who want to kickstart their marriage with an exciting vacation.

  • Island hopping

Why stay in one vacation spot when you can explore a load of them? There are many places around the globe where you can go island hopping, which usually involves taking a plane to the largest island, then going from place to place via ferry or water taxi to see as much as possible. The Caribbean is great for island hopping, as the islands are close together, and there are endless options to get around. From all-inclusive resorts to unspoiled islands with national parks, there’s something for all couples.

Some other great areas to island hop include:

  • Greece
  • Thailand
  • Florida Keys
  • Scotland

  • Go on safari

If you’re both animal lovers and adore being outdoors, then a safari is a wonderful option for a honeymoon. You can spend your days exploring and then camp out under the stars at night. Big Five safaris give you the best chance of seeing the animals all tourists are interested in including elephants, rhinos, buffalo, leopards, and lions. In areas such as Kenya and Zambia, there are some luxury options with glamping and lodges. Otherwise, choose a safari that goes off the beaten track and away from the crowds.

  • Improve your ski skills

Most people think a honeymoon means you have to enjoy hot weather but cozying up in a ski lodge can be just as romantic as a beach vacation. Skiing is only really recommended for your honeymoon if you are both at the same level because otherwise you will find it hard to spend time together. If you’re both experts in the snow, why not go on a snowboard instructor course or try some guided backcountry skiing for a whole new challenge.

  • Take a dive

Love the beach but want to do something a bit more active than sunbathing? Scuba diving is great for those who love the ocean and want to see things from a new perspective. If you’ve never taken a dive before, book a course. This will allow you to learn the basics of scuba diving, then work your way up to more complex dives.

  • Hike in the wilderness

There’s nothing quite like being alone with your new spouse in the middle of nowhere. There are many romantic hiking trails in the USA that allow you to enjoy the peaceful wilderness, lakes, mountains, or unspoiled coastline. You’ll no doubt come back from your honeymoon with some amazing photographs and even more amazing memories of your time together.

When it comes to your honeymoon, you should do something that suits your personality. Whether it’s climbing a mountain or learning something new together, there are lots of ways to spend your time as a married couple.
