Visiting The UK: What Not to Miss

Lifestyle

1 Oct

Due to its rich history and abundance of famous tourist attractions, the UK has always been a top destination for travelers across the world. Some people may only get the chance to visit once, which means they must fit all they can into their trip. There are many parts of the UK that people are enchanted by, from the rolling countryside to its bustling, multicultural cities. Knowing where to start can be tricky, as this small country has many more hidden gems than you might expect. However, there are certain parts to every trip there that should never be missed by travelers.

Head to the capital

A visit to the UK would be one well wasted if you weren’t to stop by London. With miles of urban buildings, hipster hangouts, and an undeniable buzz, you should dedicate a few days of your trip to fully immersing yourself in your new surroundings. During the days, you should visit the Queen’s residence of Buckingham Palace, and take a tour of the London Eye to get the best view of the city. If you are an avid shopper, you can spend hours wandering around Oxford Street, or delving into vintage piles of clothing in Camden. In summer, a picnic in Hyde Park allows you to see the locals enjoying one of their favorite green city spots, but the winter months will pull you to Leicester Square. Here, you can grab authentic Chinese food from China Town, before settling down to watch a West End Show beneath sparkling Christmas lights. To help you save money, you can find cheap theatre tickets to all major productions before you arrive.

Explore history

If there is one thing the UK is known for besides its capital, it is its unbelievable history. From before the days of the Romans, to the recent World Wars, you can find a multitude of museums scattered around England to cater to your educational needs. Some locations offer a more immersive experience, such as Warwick Castle and Stonehenge. In these places, you can feel history come to life, and be fully enraptured by the scenery you see. For a more decadent trip, you might want to stop by the Roman Baths in the appropriately named city of Bath.

See some natural wonders

When you see a postcard of the UK, you will likely notice the impossibly green countryside. This is something that takes travelers’ breaths away, whether you are a nature lover or not. Some of the best natural locations can be found in the north, where you can go hiking in the Peak District, before taking the drive up to Scotland to visit the famed Loch Ness. Some people even choose to take a ferry over to Northern Ireland, where they can stand on the edge of the world and look out onto the silver sea from Giant’s Causeway. If you would love to see some of the best mountain panoramas, you should make room in your trip to visit the beautiful peak of Snowdonia.
