Natural Vs. Cosmetic: A Weight Loss Guide

Blog

28 Jun

Working to achieve lasting weight loss is one of the most common forms of medical self-discipline: where we have an obesity problem, we also have a wealth of solutions for those hoping to shed a few pounds. For some, natural remedies and methods of weight loss can seem arduous and fruitless compared to cosmetic surgery – while for others it’s the most enjoyable way of slowly seeing progress in shifted weight and additional muscle. Here’s a quick look at the pros and cons of both practices.

Time-Scale

Weight loss regimes vary in time scale wildly in and of themselves: some can be a month-long heavy dieting mission while others involve slow monthly attrition. Although one might imagine that, compared to surgery or medication, ‘traditional’ natural weight loss methods are the less time-efficient option, in actual fact once you get through the rounds of seeing doctors, setting up a medication schedule, or even having surgery, you’ll likely find that the time-scales on the most part match up. When it comes to the weight loss time-scale, there’s a clear winner here.

Health Risk

Nearly all diets, including the most extreme of all, pose only a negligible risk to one’s health. That’s not to say that dangerous eating disorders can grow from the imposition of serious dietary quests, but on the whole, the natural way of losing weight through an altered diet and increased exercise runs you through little risk to your health. On the flip-side, cosmetic weight loss options come with significant risks – though admittedly at a low rate of occurrence. Even if you do suffer a complication, with surgery, for instance, you could turn to the-medical-negligence-experts.co.uk to help you claim for compensation. For many, though, unneeded surgery simply is not worth the risk.

Costs

It’s a well-known fact that eating healthier is generally a cheaper option, with individuals cutting out expensive junk food and takeaways, sugary drinks and expensive alcohol, all in favor of cheaper vegetables and healthy carbohydrates. Your gym membership, should you choose to join one in an effort to tone some muscle, may offset this economic benefit, but on the whole, you’ll not need to spend any extra money. Surgery and medication oftentimes are acquired through private healthcare, and thus can accrue significant costs; if you’re looking to save money, then, natural weight loss is the way to go.

Mindset

There’s a difference in mindset between someone who fights the natural way to lose weight, and an individual who prefers to use medical and pharmaceutical assistance to help them slim. There are numerous occasions in which a person wishing to lose weight may feel unable to go about it the natural way, and for them the decision to go cosmetic is a sensible one; for the rest, though, consider the mindset you should take into your weight loss mission, and how that will inform your sustained low weight for the rest of your life.

Natural and cosmetic weight loss options both have their merits. This guide should give you some perspective on which method to go for on your weight loss journey.
