Everyone knows that one of the most important parts of your reception is the music–from Kelly Clarkson’s “A Moment Like This,” to the “Cupid Shuffle” to keep things moving, you have to be prepared to keep your guests dancing! Here is a list of tips and tricks to help you develop the perfect wedding playlist.
1. Take requests from friends and family:
People are more likely to get up and boogie down if their requests are being heard. As your building your list, ask you close friends and family what they would like to hear and what would get their feet tapping.
2. Set up special theme dances:
Instead of simply playing music throughout the night, theme several of your dances to bring everyone up onto the dance floor. Think father-daughter or single ladies, just to mix it up.
3. Make sure there is at least two hours more of music than necessary:
Just to be certain that there are no repeats, set up at least two hours more of music than you believe necessary.
4. Create an even amount of slow and fast songs:
No one wants to hear Celine Dion belt it out for two hours straight, or The Black Eyed Peas pump it up without a break. Mix up your playlist with an even amount of slow and fast songs, to let people take a break or break it down without too much lag time.
5. Make sure to mix classic songs with modern songs:
Keep the party moving with the newest hit songs along with classic oldies that people can sing along to.
This list of tips and tricks should help you get started on building the perfect playlist to keep you and your wedding party dancing all night long. Be sure to also check out some of our DJ’s and wedding bands in our library!
